There is a shortage of pharmacy aides and cosmetologist in the country, according to Brian Lim, the chief executive officer of the Rose Institute of Cosmetology and Pharmacy, in a report by SunStar Cebu. Rose Institute is a subsidiary of the Rose Group of Companies that owns
Rose Pharmacy and
Salon de Rose.
To provide solutions to the scarcity, the Rose Institute offers:
Pharmacy Service short course
1-Year Associate Pharmacy
2-Year Associate Pharmacy
Short Courses in:
Hairdressing
Barber
Beauty Care
Make-Up
Hairdo
Nail Art
Rose Institute is located in a three-story building owned by the Rose Group of Companies with 12 classrooms along Colon St., Cebu City (across Gaisano Metro Colon). Contact 032-2540707
The beauty care courses, which include make up, hairdo, nail art, facial, body massage, foot reflex, hand spa, and waxing, can run from two weeks to about two months. The tuition for one course ranges from around P3,000 to P23,000.
Mr. Lim says that the exodus of skilled workers abroad is greatly affecting the beauty care business as it limits their business growth. Salon de Rose, Mr. Lim adds, hires 50 workers a month, thereby seeing the need to produce beauty care workers.
The same problem is facing the pharmacy industry, Loisa Hernandez of Rose Institute Pharmacy Department Head tells SunStarCebu, as there is also not enough pharmacy aides in the country. For Rose Pharmacy, specifically, it needs a big number as it gears to open 214 branches nationwide. Ms. Hernandez pointed out that there is also a “problem with the current practice adopted by pharma aides in the country” as most of them “do not advise buyers on the proper handling and maintenance of medicine.”
Mr. Lim assured that all graduates of Rose Institute are guaranteed a job after they finish the course as its affiliate companies will hire their graduates. According to Rose Institute, almost all of their graduate beauty care students are now working in Salon de Rose.
Salon de Rose has 28 branches nationwide, eight of which are in Cebu and is expected to double in number by 2015, Mr, Lim says in the report.
